What is a split heat pump, and how does it work?
A split heat pump has two main components:
- Outdoor unit: Contains the compressor and main heat exchanger.
- Indoor unit: Usually a hydraulic module or water tank that transfers heat to your heating or hot water system.
The two parts are connected by refrigerant piping, allowing flexible placement and quiet operation indoors.
How is a split heat pump different from a monoblock heat pump?
- Split System: Refrigerant lines run between the outdoor and indoor units.
- Monoblock System: All refrigeration components are outside; only water pipes enter the building.
